In 1989, my husband and I traveled to India. We spent the first several weeks traveling throughout the country. The last leg of our trip was Rajasthan. We arrived in Jaipur pretty road weary. Somehow we had the great fortune to meet Vinod. We spent the following day with him and then planned to fly on to Jodphur. We were at the door of the airport when we decided instead to have Vinod drive us out to Jaiselmer. We could not have planned so well. We spent most of a week traveling together. Some of our fondest memories are of our trip through the desert and back with Vinod. Our visit to Rajasthan would have been very different without him. He was able to answer our many questions and seemed to have an intuitive feel for what we hoped to get out of our trip. Vinod is an excellent guide and a good driver. He is very knowledgeable, honest, warmhearted and fun. Best of all, we came to know him as a friend. We have maintained our friendship over these many years. Vinod has been very good at keeping in touch. Life has, unfortunately, kept us on this side of the world since then, but we look forward to our next trip to India. That one will start in Rajasthan.
Aapki yad aati hai Vinod.
